Howdy again... so I couldn't keep up with the everyday blogging thing. I'm not really that surprised anyway. It was super windy today. Like the kind of wind that makes you worry about how sturdy your apartment building really is or if you can really be swept off your feet. Luckily my apartment and my feet held up to it.
Tomorrow I have the pleasure of entertaining elementary school kids with English. Don't get me wrong, they're cute and will try just about any game that I can throw at them, or that they can understand, but it takes everything out of me to do it all day. Tomorrow only 5 classes, but usually six. It's not like being the regular teacher; I have to teach and entertain. I usually end up singing at almost the top of my lungs and pay for it the next day by having no voice. Luckily that will be Saturday. As the Japanese say, 頑張ります! Which translates to "I'll give it my best!" (pronunciation ganbarimasu) It seems to be their general fight song for everything. I hear it at least 20 times a day. You can use it with anything from taking a test to going to teach elementary school. I've heard it a lot more recently since my students are all taking their big final test tomorrow while I'm with the kiddies. Not to mention that the last year students are taking extra tests to get into high school soon too. I really feel for the kids here. Their system seems to love tests a bit too much. Of course they do have some perks that we didn't have. Here's a picture of the school festival (one of the perks) back in September.
Nan,
ReplyDeleteGood to see you are blogging again.
I wish I could come see you while you are in Texas, but I don't want to take away your time with family. I sure like that "I'll give it my best". I can use that in my life. I still think of the great time I had while I was in Japan. Take care.
Love,
Kathy
