So I have officially applied for a Japanese credit card through my bank. I hope it's approved. If not, I'll have to try again at a shop or something. I heard it was easier through a shop, but it feels safer with my bank. I hope I get a cute card. I can use my card from the US here too, but the bill goes to the US as well where there is little or no money. It's a real pain to send money there everytime I make a big purchase. I'm hoping that my new card will aslo have enough allowance on it for the things like plane tickets. I guess I'll have to use it enough to get the amount increased. Speaking of credit cards, I need to pay off the one I bought my computer with... which means sending money to the US. I guess it's no big deal since I'll be going there soon anyway and could use the money in the bank. Although, since I am going I could take it in travellor's cheques. It might be a lot of money though... I still have some time yet. No need to worry about it now.
I went to the Nagano Immigration Office yesterday to get my re-entry permit back into Japan. If you don't get one, then your Visa is cancelled as you leave the country and you can't get back in on the same visa. It's definitely a hassle, so I got the one with multiple re-entry capability. It was only about $20 more than the single re-entry and since I'll be going to the UK this summer, I'll use it. The biggest hassle about it is taking a day off work to go and driving hour and a half to get there and spending thirty minutes in the office just to drive back another hour and a half. Not to mention that if I can't go by car then it takes two hours by train with an extra thirty minutes on the bus. Needless to say, they don't have an office in my town or anywhere close. I'm a little jealous of the Tokyo people who definitely don't have to travel so far to the office, but on the other hand it's probably much more crowded at the Tokyo offices. Luckily, I timed the trip to Nagano when my boyfriend had the day off, so we went together and got to do a little shopping while there. Oh yeah...I planned it on purpose...no luck involved ;)
I almost can't believe that I was complaining about it not snowing in December. It feels like it's snowed almost everyday recently. I guess it's better than cold rain, but it still keeps me confined to my apartment and unable to drive my car. I guess I'll survive another couple weeks with no car... I did last about 3 years without one.
