After having more than a week of full 5 or 6 class days, it's nice to have a three class day on Friday. Ahhh...
So last time I talked about Golden week stuff. Since then not much has happened besides finalizing my trip plans for the UK. I'm now figuring out what would be good to bring for traveling clothes. I want to carry as little luggage as possible. I looked on the Internet to try and find some sites with packing advice for England, but I only found one or two sites. On one of the sites, people who have recently taken trips leave there advice for future travelers. It's called Journey Woman.
One person wrote "Don't wear your tennis shoes a.k.a. "trainers" in England unless you're going to the gym. This is quite a "no, no." Most good bars and restaurants will refuse admission to anyone wearing them! Also, jeans are acceptable for casual wear as long as you have a nice blazer -- I wear a double breasted navy blazer and I fit right in." And a lot of the other people recommended wearing black. I don't know which parts of England these people went to, but in all of the photos I've seen of England they dress the same as anywhere else. I can't even imagine getting kicked out of a bar for my shoes! Many of the other people did recommend skirts (for London at least), and since they're much smaller than jeans to pack, I think I will take several skirts.
Yesterday I went to one of the Elementary schools for the day. Everytime I go, it gets easier and easier to do. The homeroom teachers at that school make the lesson plan and fax it to me a few days in advance. Then I go a little early and we talk about the plan. It has really become very smooth and much less stressful than it used to be. I look forward to it a lot more than I used to.
