Two exciting things happened yesterday.
1. It snowed. I know, I know. It's snows every year. Big deal. I just like snow. Not growing up with it really makes a difference I think. It's all cold and white and stuff.

2. I got and set up my new webcam. It's very nice. My mom was very happy to be able to see my face when I was talking to her. I suppose my dad was too. I guess I'm going to have to use it every time now. I kind of enjoyed being able to lounge around in my pajamas or do chores while we talked. Ahhh...

Today, a Para-Olympic athlete came to talk at our school. He's actually still here in the other room talking to our principal. He's a high jumper. At Beijing he jumped 1.93 meters. He talked for like an hour about what caused him to loose his right leg from below the knee and how his life changed and what he's aiming for now. It was a really interesting speech, very inspirational, but we had it in the gym and it was freezing. Literally. There was one big heater going in the back, near the parents who came to watch, but that was it. It makes me cold just thinking about it. Brrr. They really need to insulate the gym and install a heating system. More than the heating, insulation is desperately needed. The whole school has that problem though. Anyway, the speech was good and the kids asked some good questions and now I'm biding my time until I can go home and sit in front of my heater, drink tea and watch TV. Tick, tick, tick...

  1. Wow! You guys have snow already? We're a long way off I think.

I hate the fact that schools in Japan aren't heated well. I don't think our gym is heated, and even though our staff rooms and classrooms are, they are very strict about when we can actually use the heating. So then everyone gets sick, and then passes it onto everyone else. It's really silly if you ask me!
