So, the school year is coming to a close... only eight more days and only four of those days will be in class. Tomorrow we have the first (seventh) grade "class match"... basketball and volleyball games alllll day. I will taking half of the day off! Thursday is regular. Then on Friday the second and third (eighth and ninth) graders will have theirs. Another half day! (^_^) Monday through Wednesday will be regular, but half spent watching E.T. with the second graders. Thursday is the closing ceremony (after which we will be told which of the teachers is leaving) and Friday is graduation. I get to know who is leaving only one day before the kids do. Though I already know about one person. I guess they're afraid that someone will let the cat out of the bag too early? Who knows. Anyway, along with the end-of-the-school-year stuff, I have to write a yearly report. Or rather I had to write. It's already written; I have to type it tomorrow and then give it to the company that I contract with. It's the first time I've had to write one, so I'm not sure if it's what they want. The guy from my company showed me an example and said that it doesn't have to be longer than one page. I'm not sure if he meant that it should only be one page, or that he usually has to tell slackers that it has to be one page so they'll write more. Either way, hand-written mine is four pages long. How do you summarize a whole year of new experiences on one page? I'll see how much it shrinks after I type and edit it.
Oh yeah! My final pieces of pottery came out of the kiln. They're fine, but I think they got manhandled a little in the process. Next time I'll put in everything myself. It's been fun doing ceramics with the kids. I hope I can do more this next term. I know of at least one other teacher who's interested, so it's possible.
Speaking of ceramics, the picture is of my first prize-winning vase and it's friend Cthulhu.
