Last week I went to Takato... I know I mentioned it before. I'll sprinkle pictures of the beautiful cherry blossoms throughout my blog today.

On the weekend, my fiance's parents went to Kawasaki, so my fiance was the only one working in their family shop. I decided to go and see what a day at the shop was like on Sunday. We got there at about 10 to open. My fiance said that he didn't really expect anyone to come, but we cleaned the floor and got some coffee ready. I was a good little helper and did what he asked me to do. I basically ended up doing what his mom does. Bring coffee and look cute. My friend actually came to pay for a washing machine/dryer, so I brought them coffee and got to relax and chat a little. At lunch time I went to the closest grocery store to pick up a couple of bento. When I got back to the shop, one of my fiance's friends had come to visit. They used to be in a band together. After they looked at the new TVs and talked a while, we ate lunch. I had nothing to do after that and was rather sleepy, so I relaxed in the massage chair for about 20 minutes. A very talkative man from the Hitachi main office came while I was on my second massage, and I had to get coffee for him. By this time we had run out of grounds (the jar had been low in the morning), so I had to figure out how to make the instant kind. I always have problems when making instant, because I either put in too much or too little. I escaped into the back to play with my fiance's parent's cat for a couple minutes when an older man and his wife came in. The man came in grumbling about how bad Hitachi TVs are, but my fiance started showing him the latest models and explaining the differences. I was again the instant coffee girl. After they left, I tried the rodeo exercise machine. It looks like a saddle on a stick, and it's supposed to give you a good workout in the hips and waist. Then it was quiet for a while. I did some crossword puzzles and watched TV. As we were closing up for the day, an old man came by asking to have something repaired, and when he came in he started staring at me. I thought maybe he had some kind of problem with foreigners, but apparently he used to live with a Korean woman and just really likes foreign women. As soon as we could make an appointment for Tuesday with him, he left and we closed the shop.

It wasn't really busy but not entirely boring either. They're having an event at the shop this weekend, so I'll go help out this Sunday as well. I don't think it'll be at all like a normal day, but it'll be interesting to see the shop full of people.
Here's a picture of my first traditional quilt. It's definitely not perfect, but I had fun making it. I used a machine to do the whole thing, so I'm thinking about making another by hand. Maybe something with a lot of applique dragons and flowers and stuff.
